Overview
Places Live is a suite of browser-based tools for managing and reporting on Microsoft Places data via the Microsoft Graph API. Sign in once with your Microsoft 365 account and access all tools without re-authenticating.
Available tools
Control Center
Full create, edit, and delete management for all Microsoft Places resources — buildings, floors, sections, rooms, workspaces, and desks. Includes bulk import (single and multi-type CSV), bulk sync to Exchange (Set-Place equivalent), and auto-retry on throttling.
Map Import & Export
Upload IMDF floor map packages to Microsoft Places buildings via the Graph API. Also exports a full inventory of all place resources under any building as a CSV file.
Map Conversion Beta
Convert floor plan files (PDF, JPG, PNG, DXF) into georeferenced IMDF packages for Microsoft Places. Draw room polygons, assign IMDF semantic labels, use auto-detect (flood-fill with adaptive thresholding), place desk pins, run OCR to read room labels, correlate features with Places resources, and export or upload directly to Places. Also supports re-correlating an existing IMDF ZIP.
Reports
Desk Status Report
Live inventory of every desk in Microsoft Places, grouped by building, floor, and section. Filter by mode, search by name, and export the full dataset as a CSV for reporting or audits. Available in the Reports section at the bottom of the portal.
Signing in
Click Sign in with Microsoft and authenticate with your Microsoft 365 account. Your organisation must have Microsoft Places configured and admin consent granted for the required Graph API permissions.
Your sign-in session is stored in local storage and shared across all Places Live tools — you will not be asked to sign in again when switching between applications.
Map Conversion can be used without signing in for the drawing and export steps. Sign-in is only required to load buildings/floors from Places or to upload the finished IMDF package directly.
Signing out
Click Sign out in the top-right corner. This clears your session from this browser and signs you out of your Microsoft account on this device. You will be returned to the sign-in screen.
Access & permissions
Places Live is available to organisations that have been granted access by AVI-SPL. If your organisation is not yet enabled, contact AVI-SPL to arrange access.
